Biography

Phillip Phiri is a seasoned business administrator with over 20 years’ experience. He has worked in different industries from Hospitality, manufacturing, FMCG distribution, Retail and Agro- processing sectors.

He is the current Executive Director of National Competitiveness Commission of Zimbabwe an organisation formed by the Zimbabwe Act of Parliament Chapter 14:36

He is passionate about creating business growth through productivity, scientific market development, innovative strategic planning. He believes that competitive advantage of a nation is an aggregation of individual firms’ competitiveness. Global growth can be achieved through sound strategies that involve moving areas of a nation’s comparative advantage to competitive advantage.  He holds an MBA a B. Com and various business leadership certifications.

He has experience in working with listed distressed companies contributing to their revival through driving trade and market share growth. He has held various senior positions in private and public entities including being an Operations Director for ZimTrade and Head of Sales and Marketing for one of the leading an Agro Processing, General Manager (Southern Region) one of the leading FMCG manufacturing and distribution organizations. He also has experience with International Franchisees.

He has also done consultancy for several SMEs in markets and international trade development.

His philosophy is heavenly focused and earthly relevant. He believes that living a responsible and religious life must be equally matched with being relevant in this life by contributing actively to current economic activities. He is a very confident, critical thinker with performance driven business analytic approach. He has a passion for inspiring others to perform at their best and is a team player.
